About the event
Join us at our annual Wave the Waders Goodbye event.
The migratory birds that have spent the past spring and summer on our shores are just about to return to their northern breeding grounds. This event is a great opportunity to farewell the birds and to learn about these visitors and other local shorebirds which rely heavily on the quality feeding grounds provided by our beautiful Cairns Esplanade.
Speakers at the Cairns RSL from 1:00 pm:
Paul Fisk: The latest update for the monthly wader counting activities.
Adrian Walsh: Discovery of Nordmann's Greenshank and findings about the species.
Bird watching on the Esplanade from 3:00pm:
Wader viewing on the Esplanade opposite RSL (the location can vary depending on where the birds are).
Please RSVP to the contact below prior to the event. This is a free event for both members and non-members. Due to the current COVID out-break, please be mindful of the government requirements for outdoor activities at that time.
Contact Mikey Kudo, Cairns Area Coordinator for more information, on kudo555@hotmail.co.jp or 0402 343 610.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
